High chairs in the garden for an al fresco lunch, children kicking leaves in the Autumnal sunshine, cooking pumpkin soup, playing with the parachute and our first campfire of the season were just some of the wonderful things going on during half term.
With the clocks going back, we look at 'light and dark' and look forward to cosy evenings with stories and board games. We have also been learning about Diwali, the Hindu festival of light. Some children in Kindergarten enjoyed delicious cinnamon apple slices cooked over the campfire. We talked about the Fire Triangle and what a fire needs in order to burn. The apple slices were delicious; "this is a Royal feast!"
We are currently talking about Fireworks and Bonfire Night and making lots of colourful art work for our walls. This ties in wonderfully talking about Space and looking at the moon and stars on these darker early evenings. We certainly embrace the Danish way of life 'Hygge' this time of year - a time for togetherness, to be cosy and enjoy the moment.
