We have been fascinated watching the five caterpillars grow over the last few weeks. The children have been mesmerised watching them and have been using magnifying glasses to see them in detail. Every morning as we arrive at nursery, children and the team look for any changes. Last weekend, the last four of the Chrysalides decided to emerge. The butterflies have been feeding well and getting stronger everyday and on Thursday, all children in nursery gathered to watch the big 'Flutter Bye Butterfly' release. The first four flew high over the fence and across the meadow behind nursery. The fifth butterfly headed straight for our large apple tree and rested there a while to take in her surroundings.

During story time under the tree, the children spotted a few of the butterflies fluttering to say "hello". They are friends of the garden now.
