Penguin Party!

Kim from 'The Learning Journey' dropped by on one of the coldest days of the year so far. Very apt since Kim brought along her fluffy toy penguin and the book 'Lost and Found' by Oliver Jeffers. The children had great fun jumping into the actions of the Penguin - "Waddle!" "Toboggan!" "Swim!"

They also built their own little nests with an assortment of different sized pebbles and sticks.

The following week, Kim brought along some ice for the children to learn about how water can change and freeze. They experimented how it can melt.

Inside the playroom, one of the most popular things the children have been playing with are the dolls and the home corner. The children have been caring "for the babies" and linking it to their own experiences and what is relevant to them, "I have a bubbly bath!"

We took part in the recent RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch and the children counted five woodpigeons, one Blackbird, one Wren and two crows. We made bird feeders using a hollowed orange, mashed banana ad oats. Some children used their woodworking skills to drill holes, sand the wood and thread through twine to make a hanging bird feeder.
