Cooking is an important life skill to learn and the children enjoy regular cookery classes with Emma Hedge in the Hedgehogs classroom. Over the course of term, they have made pizzas, biscuits and even sauces. Last week, the children surpassed themselves as they cooked up a delicious chicken pie complete with decorative hearts pastry toppers.
The little chefs prepped, sliced, chopped and mixed the ingredients. They learn a lot about knife safety and how to chop safely and use the slicer effectively.
They learnt about hygiene and food safely. The children enjoy their weekly sessions and each took home a chicken pie to cook in the oven at home.
One family got in touch to say a huge thank you to Emma for planning and providing the children with such a valuable learning opportunity and to note that the pie was delicious! We even received a photo of the little chef enjoying his freshly cooked chicken pie at home! We heard that he shared a little bit with his sister!
